Requirements

• Must be within 180 days of transition from military service (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard)
• Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship
• HS Diploma or equivalent
• Open to all qualified transitioning active-duty U.S. service members, both officer and enlisted, of any rank and branch
• Proven mechanical background and aptitude
• Military experience in equipment or diesel maintenance and repair
• Ability to demonstrate technical, mechanical, and troubleshooting skills
• Working knowledge of transmissions, undercarriage, track systems, components, and fuel systems with a strong understanding of electrical and hydraulic systems
• Safety-oriented

Responsibilities

• Determine the status of services needed for various heavy and light construction equipment and perform the necessary repairs and maintenance to restore the equipment to proper operation.
• Set-up, repair, service, diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and installation of replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel-powered heavy equipment.
