About The Position

The Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Systems Engineer within the Applied Systems Laboratory (ASL) Air and Missile Defense Systems (AMDS) Division. Located in Huntsville, Alabama, ASL conducts world-class applied research in system modeling, simulation, analysis, testing, evaluation, and software development. The Systems Engineer will oversee systems integration tasks on US Army AIAMD systems. This role involves taking a holistic approach to systems engineering, ensuring all aspects of a system project are considered and addressed, from design to implementation and ongoing technical management. The Systems Engineer will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, develop technical requirements, lead the design team in creating system architectures, oversee implementation, and manage the technical aspects of deployed systems, including performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

Requirements

Experience with creating and testing system requirements.
Experience with distributed processing systems.
Experience with command and control systems.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.

Nice To Haves

Active Secret Clearance.
10 years of experience with creating and testing system requirements.
Experience with US Army Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS).
Experience with Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system.
Experience with RTI DDS and distributed applications.

Responsibilities

Manage all technical aspects of product or system design including directing multiple lab resources for large scale product or system deployments.
Manage sub-contractor resources supporting all system engineering areas (definition, requirements analysis, synthesis, systems analysis and implementation).
Conduct product or system design synthesis translating requirements into physical architectures for systems of high complexity to include defining and refining internal and external interfaces.
Develop technical reports and diagrams detailing product or system attributes.
Validate security control configurations on systems and ensure all systems are configured with proper controls, such as STIGS, CMMC, and other similar requirements.
Collaborate with sponsors and other key stakeholders to derive tasks from detailed requirements, and provide tasking to other team members based off of the derived tasks.
Create systems engineering artifacts to guide and facilitate integration of Army systems into the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS).
Design and oversee test processes and procedures to ensure proper integration.
Lead technical working groups across a multi-domain organization (government, contractor, services).
