About The Position

Jovian Concepts, LLC is seeking a Systems Engineer Level 4 to support national security missions in the Annapolis Junction, Maryland area. The engineer will join a large mixed team supporting DevOps and live operational systems in an environment of Linux-based physical hardware and virtual machines. The work includes Linux system administration and general systems engineering support. The engineer will monitor email and chat for mission-critical updates, issues, and support requests, and use JIRA to track and resolve tickets. The team supports a backend environment serving mission and operations users and their desktop environments, including authentication, DNS, shared drives, and home directories to help maintain connectivity and access. A current and active TS/SCI clearance with a Maryland polygraph is required. CCA candidates are not being considered at this time.

Requirements

Current and active TS/SCI clearance with a Maryland (MD) polygraph; CCA candidates will not be considered.
Solid experience with STE/STN and DISA STIG compliance work on Linux systems.
Linux administration experience at the SA1/2 level.
Experience with Kubernetes.
Experience with automation tools such as Ansible or Salt.
Scripting experience with Bash, Python, Perl, or similar.
Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, RH KVM, or Proxmox.
IP networking and firewall experience.
A bachelor's degree in a qualified engineering field or related discipline and 10 years of systems engineering experience; or a high school diploma/GED and 14 years of general systems engineering experience; or a master's degree in a qualified engineering field or related discipline and 8 years of systems engineering experience; or a PhD in a qualified engineering field or related discipline and 6 years of systems engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

Some experience with containers or cloud environments.
Solid understanding of PKI/TLS/cryptography, including crypto policies.
Storage management experience with platforms such as Isilon or NetApp.
Application support and general troubleshooting experience.
Hyperconverged infrastructure experience with platforms such as Harvester, Nutanix, or Cisco HyperFlex.

Responsibilities

Provide Linux system administration and general systems engineering support.
Support DevOps and live operational systems running on Linux-based physical hardware and virtual machines.
Monitor email and chat communications for mission-critical updates, issues, and support requests.
Track and resolve tickets using JIRA.
