About The Position

Capstone Research Corporation is seeking a Systems Engineer with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience to support projects for the U.S. Air Force and Missile Defense Agency. The role calls for a strong technical foundation and practical experience in systems engineering, MBSE, and mission engineering, along with analytical and hands-on engineering skills, systems-level thinking, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams to address complex warfighter challenges. The Systems Engineer will use MBSE tools and techniques to support requirements development, system design, and use-case development. The position develops and assesses architectures and system models in digital engineering environments, applies government reference architectures and data models to facilitate interoperability, and contributes engineering input to system models. It also involves reviewing and updating requirements, specifications, and technical documentation using a model-centric approach; participating in program reviews and technical presentations to Government stakeholders; and preparing analyses, models, reports, and other contractual deliverables. The position is based in Huntsville, Alabama, and requires travel 10% of the time.

  • At least 5 years of MBSE experience supporting DoD or Joint projects.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute complex system-of-systems analysis efforts.
  • Experience with DoD operations, concepts, and technologies and their supporting sensors, effectors, and networks.
  • Proficiency developing SysML and/or UAF models within Cameo Enterprise Architecture.
  • Familiarity with managing MBSE models in a Teamwork Cloud environment.
  • Ability to travel 10% of the time.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and hold an active DoD Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with architectural frameworks such as the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF) or Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF).
  • Knowledge of IAMD mission threads, sensor-to-shooter integration, track management, sensor fusion, Threat Evaluation and Weapon Assignment (TEWA), engagement planning, and kill chain analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Support multiple MBSE projects for the U.S. Air Force and Missile Defense Agency.
  • Use MBSE tools and techniques to support requirements development, system design, and use-case development for selected systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and assess architectures using SysML, UAFML, or other relevant languages.
  • Create system models using government reference architecture and data models to facilitate interoperability.
  • Implement and manage system architectures in a digital engineering environment accessible to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Develop and evaluate systems using standardized measures of performance and effectiveness.
  • Provide engineering-level input to system models under development.
  • Review and create or update system requirements, specifications, and technical documentation using a model-centric approach.
  • Participate in periodic program reviews and technical presentations to Government stakeholders.
  • Prepare technical documentation, engineering analyses, models, reports, and other contractual deliverables.
