Systems Engineer
About The Position
MANTECH is seeking an experienced, customer-oriented Systems Engineer for its team in the Fort Meade, Maryland area. The role supports government intelligence agencies and involves designing, implementing, and managing enterprise virtualized environments and infrastructure; administering hardware and software throughout development, test, and production environments; deploying IT automation in secure, isolated network architectures; engineering scalable storage and complex file systems; and preparing technical documentation and briefings for senior management and stakeholders. The position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph and is onsite and full-time.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field and at least 14 years of relevant Systems Engineering experience, or an Associate’s degree and at least 19 years of experience.
- Experience with Linux administration and engineering.
- At least 3 years of active, hands-on experience with one or more of the following: Kubernetes/Rancher; Ansible, including Ansible Automation Platform (AAP); or AWS virtual environment provisioning, management, or orchestration.
- Proficiency in Bash scripting and infrastructure automation.
- Experience orchestrating enterprise virtualization using VMware vSphere or Nutanix Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI).
- Current/active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
Nice To Haves
- Advanced scripting skills in Python or Perl.
- Proficiency in PKI certificate management and hardware security modules.
- Experience implementing automated security hardening (STIGs/CIS).
- AWS Virtual Environment Provisioning, Management, Orchestration Certification.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level virtualized environments and infrastructure.
- Provide full-lifecycle systems administration for hardware and software across development, test, and production environments.
- Deploy and maintain IT automation solutions to streamline operational tasks within secure, isolated network architectures.
- Engineer and optimize scalable storage solutions and complex file system configurations.
- Author and present technical program documentation and briefings for senior-level management and stakeholders.
