About The Position

Innovatus Technology Consulting is seeking a Systems Engineer to design, implement, and support enterprise network infrastructure in a secure government environment. The role focuses on LAN/WAN architectures using Cisco, Juniper, TCP/IP, and VoIP technologies, including routers, switches, firewalls, fiber optics, and cable plant design. The position is based in Dahlgren, Virginia and requires DoD 8570 IAT Level II designation and the ability to obtain and maintain a T5 investigation/clearance. U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility at this location.

Requirements

• At least three years of professional experience designing and implementing LAN/WAN environments.
• Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper technologies, including routers and switches.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP networking, VoIP technologies, firewalls, fiber optics, and cable plant design.
• Must be designated as DoD 8570 IAT Level II compliant at time of hire.
• Must hold or be able to obtain and maintain a T5 investigation/clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required for clearance eligibility at this location.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting Department of Defense or other federal network environments.
• Knowledge of network security best practices, accreditation processes, and related compliance frameworks.
• Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper, or CompTIA Security+ or higher.
• Experience with network monitoring, performance optimization, and change management.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement LAN and WAN solutions in corporate and government environments.
• Configure, deploy, and maintain Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and related network devices.
• Design and support TCP/IP-based networks, including addressing, routing, and protocol optimization.
• Plan and implement VoIP solutions and related voice infrastructure.
• Design and oversee fiber optic cabling, cable plant layouts, and physical infrastructure installations.
• Configure and manage firewalls and network security controls to support secure communications.
• Troubleshoot complex network issues, perform capacity planning, and recommend architecture improvements.
• Develop network documentation, diagrams, and procedures to support ongoing operations and compliance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet operational, performance, and security requirements.
