About The Position
The Systems Engineer is responsible for the operation, administration, and maintenance of physical and virtual server environments. The role supports optimal system performance through management of server infrastructure and virtualization platforms, and contributes to system security by implementing patch management strategies, applying STIG hardening procedures, and remediating vulnerabilities. The position also covers database backup and recovery administration, storage allocation, backup operations, and restoration testing. The engineer ensures server environments meet security and compliance expectations and remain resilient.
Requirements
- Familiarity with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization technologies.
- Experience with vulnerability management platforms and patch deployment solutions.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks for maintaining secure and resilient systems.
- Exposure to database administration, including performance tuning, storage allocation, and restoration testing.
- Background in cybersecurity practices, backup operations, and disaster recovery planning.
Responsibilities
- Perform operations, administration, and maintenance for assigned physical and virtual systems and virtualization environments.
- Manage patch deployment, STIG hardening, vulnerability remediation, and POA&M tracking.
- Administer, tune, and validate database backup and recovery processes.
- Oversee storage allocation and conduct backup operations and restoration testing.
- Maintain performance and security of server environments by addressing vulnerabilities and applying compliance frameworks.
