Systems Engineer (MidLevel)
About The Position
Akira Technologies is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer (MidLevel) to join our Network Operations Center (NOC) team. An ideal candidate for this position will have experience with system administration, Windows, and Linux operating systems (OS), Server services, and filesystem structures. This is an onsite role supporting the Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) in Norfolk, VA. Active Secret clearance or higher is required. The Systems Engineer also needs to have knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies, including VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and vRealize Suite, and VMware Aria. This role requires familiarity with security frameworks and industry standards like NIST SP 800-82 Rev. A, ISO/IEC 27001, CIS Controls, DoD 8500.01, etc. The Systems engineer should also be familiar with cybersecurity tools such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems, and vulnerability scanners i.e. Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
Requirements
- Proficiency with technologies such as: Various operating systems - Windows (Server 2019, 2022, Windows 10, and Windows 11), and Red Hat Linux (RHEL)
- Active Directory Management, User Management, Group Policies Multi-domain integration
- VMware Virtualization Technologies
- VMware Cloud Foundation, vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, vSAN, NSX, and vRealize Suite, and VMware Aria
- Trellix Endpoint Security Solutions, Configuration and Management
- Familiarity with security frameworks and industry standards like NIST SP 800-82 Rev. A, ISO/IEC 27001, CIS Controls, DoD 8500.01, etc.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity tools such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) systems, and vulnerability scanners i.e. Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS).
- Active Secret clearance or higher.
- 5+ years of relevant, Systems administration/Engineering experience in performing system issue analysis, risk management, system troubleshooting, and system documentation.

Responsibilities
- Identify and assess risks in the IT environment and implement risk mitigation strategies.
- Implement security hardening Compliance Tools, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS), Tenable.SC
- Analyze Windows registry keys, Windows and Linux file system artifacts, Active directory logs for users and account permissions.
- Apply IAM principles, Role-based access control, multi-factor authentication, and privileged access management.
- Analyze scripts, such as web shells found on endpoints, PowerShell, PHP, Python, Bash, JavaScript.
- Create clear technical documentation.
- Communicate effectively to discuss and troubleshoot high level issues with multiple governing entities.
