About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Calibration Engineer Team Lead in Mayport, Florida, to provide onsite engineering, technical, and supervisory support to Naval Surface Warfare Center Philadelphia Division (NSWCPD) Code 534. The role leads five technicians delivering Shipboard Instrumentation System Calibration (SISCAL) services across Fleet platforms, while providing engineering analysis, configuration management support, calibration procedure development, and technical leadership for emerging calibration technologies. The position supports the accuracy, reliability, and readiness of Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) instrumentation systems on U.S. Navy surface ships and submarines. The team manager oversees onboard calibration services, workforce execution, quality assurance, and customer support. The role also supports new-construction and modernization efforts, conducts instrumentation configuration reviews, develops and maintains System Calibration Procedures, and evaluates and integrates new calibration standards and technologies into Fleet metrology programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least nine years of experience; experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
  • Must have an active Secret clearance.
  • Experience supporting Navy shipboard HM&E systems, calibration programs, or metrology operations.
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical teams and managing workforce execution.
  • Knowledge of shipboard instrumentation, configuration management, and calibration requirements.
  • Experience developing engineering documentation, technical procedures, and system analyses.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of five technicians supporting NSWCPD Code 534 calibration operations.
  • Direct onboard SISCAL calibration services for Calibration Activity 2 instrumentation associated with HM&E systems.
  • Ensure calibration work complies with Navy calibration requirements and the approved Calibration Requirements List (CRL).
  • Coordinate technician workloads, quality assurance activities, and customer support requirements.
  • Oversee calibration services performed through the Navy Automated Work Request (AWR) process and support Fleet-wide calibration requirements as tasked.
  • Provide technical guidance during shipboard calibration events and troubleshooting, and ensure calibration records and documentation meet Navy standards.
  • Assist with initial SISCAL visits for new-construction ships.
  • Conduct Installed Instrumentation Configuration Reviews (IICR) to verify instrumentation configurations and calibration requirements.
  • Support calibration planning and configuration assessments for ship modernization and backfit alteration programs.
  • Perform SISCAL engineering analyses for new-construction and altered surface ships and submarines.
  • Evaluate instrumentation configurations, system modifications, design changes, engineering documentation, platform baselines, and instrument inventories to validate calibration requirements and assess calibration impacts.
  • Develop, maintain, and update System Calibration Procedures (SCPs) aligned with as-configured platform baselines.
  • Analyze shipboard system interfaces and calibration dependencies to improve measurement system reliability.
  • Drive continuous improvement in calibration processes, procedures, and technical guidance; validate inventories and requirements against current platform configurations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve lifecycle supportability and Fleet readiness through calibration management practices.
  • Lead technical and logistics activities to evaluate, qualify, and deploy new calibration standards.
  • Assess measurement system performance, traceability requirements, calibration uncertainty, and operational suitability of emerging calibration technologies.
  • Coordinate implementation strategies and logistics integration for Fleet metrology programs.
  • Validate technical requirements and facilitate adoption of new calibration capabilities across supported platforms, integrating new standards into established calibration processes.
