As a Systems Engineer, you will play an important role in the development and delivery of advanced medical imaging systems, working across engineering disciplines and with clinical, product, manufacturing, service, and other stakeholders. You will take ownership of new system functionality throughout the development lifecycle—from requirements definition and technical risk management through integration, verification, and validation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 1–2 years of experience in diagnostics, medical imaging, medical devices, or a related engineering field; medical imaging experience is preferred.
  • Experience developing and executing system-level verification tests.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences, including engineers, product management, clinical stakeholders, and international teams across the U.S., Germany, China, and India.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team while also operating independently.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven product development environment.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally on an occasional basis (less than 5%).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical imaging use cases and clinical workflows.
  • Experience applying engineering principles within diagnostic or medical imaging environments.
  • Understand system performance testing and validation.
  • Knowledge of key medical imaging technologies and how they apply to clinical imaging systems.
  • Comfortable managing changing priorities and technical challenges in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • Can effectively bridge communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with 510(k) medical devices or within another highly regulated product-development environment.
  • Must be able to work with controlled technology in accordance with US export control law.

Responsibilities

  • Owning the realization of new system functionality throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Driving the definition, specification, technical risk management, integration, test strategy, verification, and validation of product features in close collaboration with cross-functional project teams.
  • Eliciting, analyzing, and documenting high-quality system requirements from clinical, service, manufacturing, marketing, and other key stakeholders.
  • Translating and decomposing user and system-level requirements into detailed, complete, and testable technical specifications.
  • Developing and maintaining system technical performance requirements and specifications.
  • Reviewing and assessing emerging technologies for potential incorporation into current and future products.
  • Developing algorithms and executing testing to assess system performance and image quality.
  • Developing and executing system-level verification and validation strategies.
  • Analyzing test results and preparing clear, comprehensive technical reports documenting system performance.
  • Investigating and resolving customer issues related to system performance and image quality.
  • Identifying, quantifying, and communicating technical risks and driving mitigation strategies affecting projects and products.
  • Championing product quality through rigorous functional verification and clinical validation.
  • Translating cutting-edge technologies into commercially viable solutions that advance medical care for customers and patients.
  • Ensuring seamless integration of complex hardware and software subsystems designed and manufactured across multiple global locations.
