About The Position

The Systems Engineer – Level III serves as the senior technical engineer for an end-user device ecosystem. The position leads engineering design, platform integration, advanced troubleshooting, automation, technical evaluation, and implementation activities across endpoint-management systems, virtual desktops, enterprise networks, security controls, remote-access services, software-distribution platforms, and multi-platform devices. The engineer supervises or coordinates technical work and ensures that proposed changes are secure, supportable, scalable, properly tested, and aligned with operational objective of reducing device-configuration time, improving supportability, and increasing customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of systems or endpoint engineering experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience with enterprise endpoint-management, automation, virtual desktop, and supporting infrastructure technologies.
  • Minimum 3 years of troubleshooting experience across devices, networks, servers, identity, security controls, and management platforms.
  • Minimum 3 years of scripting and automation experience, preferably with PowerShell, Shell Scripting and configuration-management technologies.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience leading engineers and coordinating complex technical work across multiple teams.
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design and implementation for complex changes affecting endpoint-management, software-distribution, virtual desktop, network connectivity, remote support, identity, and endpoint-security services.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex communication and integration issues involving MECM/SCCM, JAMF Pro, Citrix, Absolute, SaltStack, Windows, macOS, Linux, VPN, Wi-Fi, certificates, proxies, firewalls, and TCP/IP.
  • Develop engineering strategies for operating-system upgrades, application modernization, hardware transitions, security-agent deployments, vulnerability remediation, and large-scale device refreshes.
  • Define deployment architectures, pilot populations, release rings, monitoring requirements, rollback procedures, and technical acceptance criteria.
  • Lead evaluation of emerging technologies and recommend adoption based on security, compatibility, lifecycle cost, operational supportability, scientific-user needs, and customer impact.
  • Engineer automated provisioning, software packaging, configuration enforcement, compliance validation, reporting, and remediation solutions.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, change-control boards, security reviews, root-cause analyses, and incident-response activities.
  • Coordinate closely with the Cyber Security team to investigate endpoint incidents, collect evidence, implement containment, and validate remediation.
  • Establish engineering standards, configuration baselines, interface requirements, technical procedures, and documentation controls.
  • Analyze platform utilization, device populations, network dependencies, performance patterns, and capacity requirements.
  • Lead technical testing of new device models, peripherals, operating-system versions, applications, browsers, drivers, and specialized biomedical research technologies.
  • Provide technical leadership, training, review, and mentoring to system engineers, system administrators, and support technicians.
  • Develop permanent corrective solutions for recurring incidents, deployment failures, configuration drift, non-communicating devices, and support-volume trends.
  • Present technical recommendations, risks, alternatives, and implementation plans to management in decision-ready formats.
  • Ensure engineering activities comply with government, vendor, privacy, and information-security requirements.
  • Ability to communicate engineering decisions effectively to both technical and management audiences.
