About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Systems Engineer Lead to support the Space Force Range Contract. This role involves serving as the Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) for assigned Long Term Range System (LTRS) subsystem(s), managing issues including risk, subsystem anomalies, and Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) cases. The position requires developing out-year plans (spend plans) and providing input for Government funding to address subsystem needs. The role also provides project integration support from contract award through the final transition of Third-Party Developer (TPD) systems into the SFRC OM&S baseline. Responsibilities include supporting the development of acquisition documentation (SOO, SOW, PWS) for TPD procurements and assisting in Request for Proposal (RFP) development. The Systems Engineer Lead will define and write requirements for TPD contracts based on capabilities and operating concepts in support of SLD30, and coordinate with Government customers and internal SFRC stakeholders. Application of risk management principles to identify, assess, plan, and mitigate subsystem and LTRS risks is essential, as is supporting or managing LTRS Risk Management Working Groups and Risk and Opportunity Management Boards (ROMBs). The role oversees the transition and integration of new or modified systems to ensure they meet SFRC OM&S standards and manages and executes systems engineering processes to ensure continuity across the SFRC. Assistance in developing training tools and documentation for transitioning systems is also required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related STEM field.
  • 5+ years of systems engineering experience or related engineering experience.
  • Fundamental knowledge of engineering lifecycle and systems engineering processes.
  • Proficiency with Windows-based computer systems and the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills for system design and testing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder interaction.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to handle competing priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Aptitude for rapidly learning new concepts and technologies.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance (requires U.S. citizenship).
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools (e.g., Cameo) is preferred.
