Systems Engineer IV

Applied MaterialsSanta Clara, CA
$161,000 - $221,000Onsite

About The Position

As a Systems Engineer, you’ll design, integrate, and optimize complex systems that drive the semiconductor industry forward. Your expertise in systems thinking and problem-solving is essential as you collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop advanced solutions to intricate processes and writing system specifications. You’ll be responsible for analyzing requirements, defining system architectures, conducting thorough testing, and ensuring seamless integration of subsystems. Additionally, you’ll identify and mitigate risks, confirming that our systems meet the highest quality standards and exceed customer expectations. This is a 5 days per week in the office role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or related)
  • 7-10 years of experience in complex equipment systems engineering

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with semiconductor equipment, including AC/DC power, cabling and interconnection, heaters and heating control, actuators/motors and motion control, pneumatics/gas and pneumatics/gas control, vacuum and vacuum control, system I/O and workflow, safety interlocks, etc.
  • Experience working collaboratively, in detail, with electrical, mechanical, software, and process engineers to specify, model, design, build, test, and release complex electro-mechanical equipment
  • Demonstrated experience leading technical projects and working cross-functionally from concept through development, verification, and introduction to manufacturing and field deployment

Responsibilities

  • Play a leading technical role in the execution of complex projects that have a substantial mix of electrical, mechanical, controls, physics/process, and software design.
  • Author detailed, comprehensive engineering requirements and design specifications based on customer and business inputs.
  • Lead multi-discipline architecture meetings and define and document specific system and sub-system architecture and technology selections.
  • Develop comprehensive system models to analyze and optimize system and sub-system performance.
  • Create detailed interconnection and component specifications at the system and sub-system level to drive lower level electrical, mechanical, and software designs.
  • Design, implement/program, and test system controls for I/O and safety interlocks for heating, motion, gas, vacuum, and other sub-systems.
  • Work with vendors to develop customized components for integration into our systems. Own technical vendor relationships.
  • Create system and sub-system test plans and protocols. Perform and document engineering verification and characterization testing. Identify and troubleshoot system functional, performance, and reliability issues across all sub-systems and drive technical solutions.
  • Transfer new designs to manufacturing and support manufacturing engineering, test engineering, manufacturing assembly, and supply chain in producing the first production builds.
  • Work with and support process engineering to refine and optimize system behavior and performance.

Benefits

  • Supportive work culture that encourages you to learn, develop, and grow your career
  • Programs and support that encourage personal and professional growth
  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable
