About The Position

RTX is offering an internship opportunity for a Systems Engineer Intern supporting Mission Sensors, Weapons, and IFF (Identification Friendly or Foe) avionics systems. The intern will play a key role in developing requirements, tests, verification, and software/systems integration for aerospace and defense applications. This role involves working within a collaborative Agile team to translate requirements into software solutions and test strategies, supporting system integration and verification. The position is ideal for individuals who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, improving engineering processes, and working across disciplines to deliver reliable systems.

Requirements

Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Engineering or STEM major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
Experience with scripting using Python (or similar).

Familiarity with Requirements Development
Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Responsibilities

Help ensure mission-critical avionics software performs flawlessly in the real world.
Develop and translate requirements into robust software solutions and test strategies.
Support system integration and verification efforts.
Design and define software requirements using DOORs.
Develop automated and semi-automated test scripts using Python to validate software functionality and system performance.
Verify software builds in integrated lab environments.
Support formal verification events for major program deliveries.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to refine system requirements and design solutions that meet customer needs.
Present technical progress and status updates to Agile team members and engineering leadership.
