About The Position

This role is for a newly graduating engineer, mathematician, or scientist to join a team focused on state-of-the-art sensors for modern autonomous systems. The group provides critical technical contributions to sensors that integrate with guidance, navigation, and control subsystems. The vision is to maintain the United States' technological advantage by leading the development and prototyping of advanced autonomous systems. The position involves designing and evaluating advanced autonomous system sensors, with opportunities to grow expertise in areas such as electromagnetics, RF system design, optics, electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) system design, digital signal/image processing, detection and classification algorithms, and hardware design. The team develops innovative algorithms, creates advanced simulations, and performs hardware testing and integration. Success in this role requires motivation and technical curiosity to address sensor-related challenges across various autonomous flight vehicles. Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Passionate about creative problem-solving and applying skills to the design and development of next-generation sensor technologies for autonomous systems.
  • Academic background and interest in one or more of the following technical areas: Electromagnetics, Radio Frequency (RF) System Design, RF Antennas and Technologies, RF Communications, Radar Systems, Optics, Elector-optical/Infrared (EO/IR) System Design, EO/IR Imagers, Focal Plane Arrays, Digital Signal/Image Processing, Detection and Classification Algorithms, Circuits/Electronics, Software Defined Radios and Hardware Design.
  • Classroom, project, or internship experience in RF, EO, and/or IR sensors.
  • Ability to obtain an Interim Secret security clearance by the start date and ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required for security clearance eligibility.

Nice To Haves

  • Classroom, project, and/or internship experience working with sensors integrated with guidance, navigation, and control systems and/or integrated into autonomous systems.
  • Familiarity with complimentary disciplines including: modeling, simulation and analysis; design optimization; software or algorithm development; and hardware testing.
  • Interest in continuing studies towards an MS or PhD in EE, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct cutting-edge sensor research, design, modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with adjacent technical domains in the development of next-generation autonomous systems.
  • Develop innovative ways of modeling, simulating, analyzing, and predicting sensor performance in complex operational environments.
  • Lab test sensor hardware and software to identify operational capabilities and limitations.
  • Work closely with sensor subject matter experts for training and mentorship.
  • Collaborate with a team of engineers and interact with government sponsors, including platform designers in multi-disciplinary optimization studies for early-phase vehicle development.
  • Continue education through technical short courses and graduate degree programs.
