Systems Engineer I - Guidance, Navigation, and Control (Onsite)

RTX•Tucson, AZ
•$62,900 - $119,700•Onsite

About The Position

RTX is hiring an entry-level Systems Engineer in Tucson, Arizona, to support current and upcoming missile programs. As a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) engineer, the employee will help evaluate, design, implement, and integrate embedded software algorithms. The GNC department characterizes system aerodynamics using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and wind tunnel testing, and designs, integrates, and optimizes guidance, tracking, navigation, and estimation algorithms to meet mission objectives. Solutions are evaluated through system-level flight testing or lower-level subsystem testing and evaluation. The engineer will collaborate on an integrated product team responsible for tactical embedded software, firmware, and six-degree-of-freedom simulations supporting overall system performance requirements. This is an onsite, entry-level role. U.S. citizenship is required, and the candidate must have an active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance before starting, with the ability to obtain an interim clearance required prior to the start date.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, physics, mathematics, or a related STEM field, obtained by the start date.
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, C/C++, and/or object-oriented design and Linux operating systems.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: GNC systems, modeling and simulation techniques, digital and/or modern control systems, dynamics, Kalman filter design, signal processing (electro-optical, infrared, or active/passive RF), navigation systems, sensors (IMU/GPS) and algorithms, Assured Position, Navigation, and Timing (APNT) systems, or aerodynamics and CFD.
  • U.S. citizenship; only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance required prior to the start date, with ability to obtain an interim clearance required prior to the start date.
