About The Position

The Systems Engineer supports the development, integration, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing technologies related to vision systems, automation equipment, laser-based processes, and packaging systems. This role works closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to help translate innovation concepts into practical, production-ready solutions that improve process capability, efficiency, quality, and equipment reliability. The position plays an important role in supporting the Humacao Innovation Roadmap by contributing to automation projects that accelerate manufacturing advancement and long-term site competitiveness.

  • Engineering degree required

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to machine vision systems for inspection, alignment, part presence verification, barcode/laser mark verification, or error-proofing applications.
  • Basic knowledge of automation equipment including sensors, actuators, conveyors, pick-and-place systems, and semi-automated manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with laser-based equipment or laser marking systems used in manufacturing environments.
  • Exposure to automated or semi-automated packaging equipment , including sealing, labeling, inspection, and material handling systems.
  • Understanding of PLC-controlled equipment and basic knowledge of industrial controls, HMI interfaces, and I/O architecture.
  • Experience supporting equipment troubleshooting, debug, startup, or commissioning activities.
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, mechanical layouts, and technical documentation related to automated systems.
  • Basic experience with process validation, equipment qualification, or change control documentation in regulated environments.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with manufacturing, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams .
  • Strong interest in automation, advanced manufacturing technologies, and innovation-driven projects .
  • Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or other regulated manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement tools and problem-solving methods for process and equipment optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
