About The Position

MIKEL is actively seeking a Systems Engineer I to join its dynamic, high-exposure OHIO Systems Engineer team. This role is crucial for providing technical support related to OHIO class submarine system engineering, integration, testing, and evaluation. The services will specifically support NUWC Code 25 projects that involve Non-Propulsion Electronics Systems (NPES) and its associated subsystems for SSBNs and SSGNs. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting reviews of system and software interface requirements, design documentation, verification processes, and system-level test procedures. Additionally, the position entails providing logistical support, performing quality assurance inspections, and preparing materials for both shipping and receiving.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering, or 3-5 years of experience supporting Navy combat systems or related undersea warfare programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical content to mixed audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaborative environments with cross-functional teams.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have the ability to possess an active DoD Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting NAVSEA submarine programs
  • Hands-on experience with weapons launcher systems, or test laboratories
  • Understanding of NAVSEA and NUWC engineering practices and acquisition standards.
  • Experience with Navy labs, tactical networks, or classified development environments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct preventative and corrective maintenance/Repair on LCSF equipment using proper tools and documentation/procedures.
  • Working in an Agile environment with engineers across the program to verify LCSF deliveries to the Navy
  • Install hardware in LCSF test bays and troubleshoot anomalies related to system equipment.
  • Assist LCSF lab users with troubleshooting equipment local to the LCSF lab space.
  • Communicate with subsystems engineers to identify and resolve complex engineering deficiencies.
  • Organization of BYG shipset material, including shipping supplies and materials.
  • Complete various hardware audits.
  • Complete various hardware and tactical combat system equipment inspections.
  • Complete the declassification of tactical submarine combat systems.
