About The Position

Searching for talented and motivated individuals to join the Global Velocity Lab Engineering team at Lam Research. This is a small concept and feasibility (C&F) group of mixed disciplines focused on evaluating and advancing industry disrupting technology to enhance Lam's product portfolio in the next 3-5yrs. Candidates who learn quickly, exhibit strong initiative, innovation, agility, analytical skills, and logical problem solving will excel as a part of this team.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years experience
  • Very good oral and written communication skills in English
  • Self-motivated individual with hands-on laboratory experience and can-do attitude
  • Experience in best-practices in troubleshooting and root cause analysis to resolve problems with design features and devices
  • Experienced with Microsoft Office Applications (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project), MS Teams, and Sharepoint
  • Understanding of system-level operation including controls, sensors, and interlocks
  • Strong team player who enjoys working with motivated coworkers in fast-paced environment
  • Be flexible to change in a dynamic and continuous learning environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with instrument control and data acquisition tools/scripting languages like LabView, MATLAB, Python, VB.NET, etc. preferred
  • Etch and Deposition hardware experience preferred
  • RF plasma experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop framework for future product requirements during C&F development
  • Collect feedback from technical owner, process, and engineering to quantify requirements and document learning as C&F progresses
  • Engage key stakeholders effectively with clear communication of objectives, tradeoffs, risks, and decisions
  • Define interfaces and processes for complex technical platforms, system specifications, signal inputs/outputs, and working parameters for hardware and/or software compatibility
  • Work closely with software and controls experts to create system control architecture
  • Identify, analyze and resolve system design weaknesses
  • Establish a format and methodology to document and maintain C&F module configurations and key parameters through C&F testing (system fingerprint)
  • Experience in developing and conducting test plans, design of experiments, troubleshooting, and creating theory of operations
  • Utilize system documentation (component/assy specs, drawings, P&IDs, interconnect diagrams, BOMs, etc) to troubleshoot issues and/or retrofit/modify/integrate sub systems for C&F testing as required
  • Define, document and communicate installation and operating procedures to engineers with variety of technical backgrounds
  • Create test plans and work with team to validate new hardware or system design against hardware specifications or expected behavior
  • Present data and results in design, program, and executive reviews
  • Partner with technical owner to establish and document program C&F exit criteria
  • Transfer requirements and learning/knowledge to product groups during transition to product alpha phase
