Onto Innovation•Wilmington, MA
•$60,080 - $90,120•Onsite

About The Position

Onto Innovation is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the installation, integration, troubleshooting, and field readiness of advanced semiconductor inspection and metrology systems within the Panel and Patterning Engineering organization. This individual contributor role works across engineering, operations, field service, technical product support, manufacturing, product management, supply chain, and strategic customers to promote reliable system performance and timely issue resolution. The role is primarily on-site in Wilmington, Massachusetts, with domestic and international travel up to 60% for customer deployments, escalations, upgrades, and tool acceptance activities. The role includes supporting system installation, alignment, calibration, troubleshooting, and acceptance; diagnosing issues across electro-mechanical, optical, automation, software, and subsystem levels; and partnering with engineering teams on test plans, diagnostic data, and corrective-action validation. It also provides hands-on support for customer escalations, field upgrades, preventive maintenance, and system recovery. The engineer documents findings and configuration changes, collaborates across functions to close technical gaps, follows safety requirements, and contributes to continuous improvement. Candidates should bring at least 10 years of experience supporting complex systems and demonstrate strong troubleshooting, communication, ownership, and analytical skills. Minimum education is an associate degree, technical diploma, military technical training, or equivalent hands-on experience. The position may require occasional lifting up to 40 pounds and work in laboratory, manufacturing, cleanroom, customer-site, and office environments. Onto Innovation offers competitive salaries and benefits, including health, dental, and vision coverage, life and disability insurance, PTO, a 401(k) with employer match, an Employee Stock Purchase Program, wellness initiatives, and annual bonus opportunities. Potential long-term incentives may also be available.
