About The Position

This Systems Design Engineer will be a member of the Trane Commercial Systems organization and be responsible for all aspects of equipment design and component integration for the CenTraVac Chiller product line. This includes modeling system performance, innovating new technology for future products, and validating ideas and system performance in the laboratory. This role interacts with other functional resource groups to support product design and integration, such as Compressor Engineering, Thermal Systems Engineering, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineer, Manufacturing, etc. Trane Technologies is a world leader in creating comfortable, sustainable, and efficient climate solutions for buildings, homes, and transportation, committed to putting the planet first and challenging what's possible for a sustainable world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • At least 2-years of work experience supporting system and subsystem product designs, validation testing and root cause analysis.
  • Proven success in helping conduct new technology and new product development projects to improve the function, reliability, or cost of products and components.
  • Understanding of HVAC system including refrigeration, heat transfer and airflow.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering knowledge to perform Chiller Performance Modeling to simulate and predict unit performance.
  • Chiller System Performance, Reliability, and Quality
  • Conduct design FMEAs; develop and execute resulting risk mitigation plans.
  • Support sales order attainment by providing custom design modifications.
  • Support field and factory system problem resolution.
  • Overnight travel will be required; less than 10%.
