A Systems Architect works under limited direction from the IS manager. This level is staffed by individuals with either the experience or the educational background to qualify them to perform tasks independently and carry out the general direction of the department’s goals set forth by their manager. The Systems Architect will be specialists in several large systems areas, and/or may integrate several technologies into a larger complex system. They are typically systems experts in several areas and offer instruction and direction to other staff. They utilize customer input and business knowledge to analyze, design, and integrate, large complex software systems, recommending workflow/process changes. A Systems Architect can create advanced scripting and integration processes between disparate systems. They may modify, test and inspect other 3rd party software. They fully document all stages of the application development lifecycle, with excellent internal script/code documentation. They can and may lead large development teams. They will be able to provide technical and procedural guidance to other team members. Often, they will act as a liaison between customers and the team or team members.
