About The Position

The System Architect role provides technical expertise and technology leadership during sales concept development and project concept design phases in the freight & parcel and postal material handling industries. This role collaborates with the Sales organization to understand customer operations and process challenges to develop industry-leading system solutions within the material handling industry. This role also collaborates within the Execution organization, ensuring concept designs align with system functionality requirements and support concept transformation into detailed design solutions.

Requirements

  • Obtained a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of five years of successful experience in the related field and a successful demonstration of knowledge and responsibilities
  • Proficient in automation layout and design with AutoCAD 2D or Navisworks, and knowledge of 3D CAD modeling and drafting
  • Ability to travel 25%
  • Understanding of automation controls with a demonstrated interest in cross-functional collaboration
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to clearly document technical decisions using visuals, diagrams, and concise written explanations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision-making
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality work that meets or exceeds customer expectations
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of material handling system solutions, leveraging deep expertise in equipment technology and operational processes
  • Partner with clients to define system requirements, analyze data, and deliver solutions that improve efficiency and meet end-user needs
  • Provide technical leadership during the sales phase, presenting solutions and building client confidence in Körber’s capabilities
  • Support multiple concurrent projects ranging from $1M to $250M in value
  • Facilitate internal and client-facing meetings to align on system concepts, requirements, and project progress
  • Develop and utilize material flow calculations and Basis of Design (BOD) to define system performance and throughput
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on material handling equipment, ensuring optimal technology selection and system integration
  • Create system concepts, process flows, and material flow diagrams to support solution development and decision-making
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, bid, and operations teams to develop specifications, pricing, and project handoff documentation
  • Support system validation through simulation, emulation, and commissioning, ensuring alignment with “as-sold” solutions and acceptance criteria
