About The Position

The Systems & Network Specialist manages and supports the organization's IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, and client-side systems. This role involves administering physical and virtual servers, Active Directory, O365, and data storage, while providing technical support and ensuring system performance. Responsibilities also include administering wired and wireless networks, firewalls, VoIP systems, and disaster recovery solutions.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in IT or equivalent work experience
  • 2-4 years relevant experience in system and/or network administration

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of technical expertise in systems and/or network administration
  • Experience with creating an IT budget and/or project management
  • Bachelor's degree in IT or related discipline
  • Experience with creating and maintaining complex networks OR administering O365 with a focus on email security

Responsibilities

  • Configure, install, and support client hardware and software, both onsite and remotely.
  • Diagnose and isolate hardware, software, and network problems; coordinate solutions and escalate issues to vendors when necessary.
  • Administer and support LAN & WAN networks, including configuration, testing, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting of network equipment, wireless hardware, and client connectivity.
  • Maintain network and system performance by monitoring, tuning, patching, and upgrading servers, appliances, and network devices.
  • Administer VOIP systems, Microsoft Windows Server, Linux environments, virtualization, network storage, and messaging systems, including mail routing and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with other ITS staff and specialists on system investigations, installations, integrations, performance monitoring, backup configurations, and disaster recovery efforts.
  • Identify and report security and data vulnerability issues to the Director or Supervisor of ITS.
  • Test software and hardware to ensure ease of use and conformity to IU standards.
  • Create and maintain a replacement cycle for IT assets in alignment with service area needs and ITS guidelines.
  • Maintain and audit documentation and assets keeping current with trends and developments in technology.
  • Utilize the helpdesk system to manage and analyze client support requests, assisting in identifying and implementing service improvements.
  • Support shared department responsibilities, including helpdesk support, conference room technology, remote video recordings, disaster recovery planning, and employee training.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
