About The Position

The Systems Analyst provides support and oversight of the technical operations that support the core functions of the Registrar’s Office. This position manages and enhances the university’s student information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft/SOLAR, DegreeWorks, College Scheduler, transcript platforms) to ensure accurate enrollment, records maintenance, degree certification, and reporting. The Systems Analyst collaborates closely with the Office of the Registrar Business Analyst, IT Services, academic departments, and administrative offices to translate business needs into system functionality, implement enhancements, maintain data integrity, and resolve technical issues. The role requires strong analytical skills, effective project management, and a commitment to continuous improvement in support of student success and institutional effectiveness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in higher education, regulatory or compliance (Student work experience may be considered).
  • Experience maintaining compliance and confidentiality of student records.
  • Experience managing records and electronic files using collaborative platforms (e.g., OnBase, Google Drive, SharePoint).
  • Experience working in student information or enrollment systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in computer science related field.
  • Ability to perform programming codes in one or more programming logic.
  • Experience with Registrar or student service-related business functions.
  • Direct work in a Registrar’s Office or related student services area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with oversight of student information systems supporting enrollment, registration, records, and graduation.
  • Collaborate with the Office of the Registrar Business Analyst to translate business processes into system requirements and implement technical solutions.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and security across systems through validation protocols, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Partner with IT and campus stakeholders to plan, test, and deploy system upgrades, patches, and integrations.
  • Provide training, documentation, and support to staff and campus partners on system functionality and new features.
  • Lead initiatives to streamline and automate Registrar-related processes, emphasizing efficiency, scalability, and user experience.
  • Serve as project manager for system enhancements and new implementations, overseeing requirements gathering, testing, and rollout.
  • Develop and maintain business process documentation, functional specifications, and training materials.
  • Monitor vendor updates, regulatory requirements, and best practices to recommend system improvements that advance compliance and student success.
  • Act in conjunction with Registrar leadership as a vendor liaison, representing institutional needs and coordinating upgrades and enhancements.
  • Support cross-unit strategic initiatives and institutional priorities in collaboration with university partners.
  • Represent the Registrar’s Office on committees and taskforces.
  • Provide data collection, analysis, and reporting to support academic planning and decision-making.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff supporting Registrar operations.
  • Assist with core functions including enrollment, registration, graduation, and transcript processing, ensuring exemplary service across all university locations (e.g., SUNY Korea, Southampton, Manhattan, East Campus).
  • Support new student orientations and campus-wide enrollment events.
  • Promote customer service excellence and process improvement in daily operations.
  • Participate in Enrollment Management and institutional events, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Engage in professional activities (e.g., committees, conferences, presentations) to stay current with developments in the field.
  • Support the mission of the division: delivering equitable, student-centered programs and services that foster success, inclusion, and integrity.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.

Benefits

  • FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
  • $4,000 UUP annual location pay, paid biweekly.
