About The Position

The Systems Administrator is responsible for the installation, configuration, operation, maintenance, monitoring, and security of enterprise infrastructure and AWS cloud environments. This position supports Windows and Linux servers, cloud services, web applications, databases, and security tools to ensure system availability, performance, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience administering Windows and/or Linux server environments.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience administering AWS cloud environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with AWS services including ALB, ECs, EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, CloudWatch, Systems Manager, and Security Groups.
  • Experience supporting web applications using IIS and/or Apache.
  • Familiarity with MySQL databases.
  • Experience with security monitoring, vulnerability remediation, patch management, and system hardening.
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell, Bash, or Python scripting.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST SP 800-53 Rev. 5 and FISMA.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, SysOps Administrator, or Security Specialty certification.
  • Experience supporting FedRAMP, FISMA, or other regulated environments.
  • Experience with Splunk Enterprise, Microsoft Sentinel, Security Hub, GuardDuty, and AWS Config.
  • Experience with AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager and Session Manager.
  • Experience with ColdFusion and SOLR Search Engine.
  • Experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code methodologies.
  • Experience supporting serverless architectures using AWS Lambda, API Gateway, and CloudFront.
  • Experience with Docker, Amazon ECS, and/or Amazon EKS.
  • Experience supporting Authority to Operate (ATO) environments and security audits.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure including ALB, EC2, S3, CloudFront, ECS, IAM, VPC, Route 53, Lambda, Systems Manager, CloudWatch, Config, Security Hub, GuardDuty, and AWS Backup.
  • Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
  • Administer core infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, IIS, FTP, file services, and remote access solutions.
  • Administer and manage several ColdFusion servers with SOLR search. This includes administration and patch management.
  • Monitor cloud resources, operating systems, and applications for availability, performance, security, and cost optimization.
  • Implement and maintain AWS security best practices including IAM least-privilege access, security groups, network segmentation, logging, and monitoring.
  • Support Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automation initiatives using Terraform and AWS-native tools.
  • Perform routine patch management, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist with MySQL database administration and troubleshooting.
  • Support backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity procedures.
  • Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and system diagrams.
  • Participate in on-call support, maintenance windows, and incident response activities as required.
