About The Position

This is a new role due to company growth, requiring a well-rounded and technically deep Systems Administrator/Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience. The ideal candidate will be comfortable interacting with vendors, possess strong problem-solving skills, and have a service-oriented and collaborative approach. The role involves 5 days on-site work per week and on-call responsibilities for network issues. This position is not an entry-level helpdesk role and does not lead to management. A strong background in enterprise computer networking with secondary systems administration experience is essential. The company is a security-first organization with a predominantly on-prem technical environment, preferring to keep data on-prem and utilizing cloud services primarily for 3rd-party SaaS. The tech stack includes standardized Windows Server, deep Active Directory knowledge, on-prem Microsoft Exchange, networking (routing & switching), and SQL/DBMS experience. Some Linux/Unix exposure is a plus. Current initiatives include transitioning from Cisco routers to Check Point firewalls with SD-WAN, and ongoing infrastructure upgrades. The company seeks someone from a mature but not siloed work environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on experience as a systems administrator/engineer.
  • Technically deep understanding of systems and networking.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise computer networking.
  • Secondary systems administration experience.
  • Comfortable calling vendors.
  • Problem solver.
  • Service-oriented and collaborative.
  • Minimum of two mid-level or higher certifications from Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Check Point, or CompTIA ('+' certs are considered entry-level).
  • Strong knowledge of dynamic routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, or IGRP/EIGRP).
  • Knowledge of telecommunications circuits.
  • Proficiency in TCP/IP, NAT, OSI topology.
  • Experience with IP telephony (SIP, WebRTC).
  • Familiarity with AAA/TACACS+, RADIUS, DNS.
  • Understanding of subnetting (CIDR, VLAN/PVLAN).
  • Experience with port aggregation.
  • Knowledge of wireless networking (protocols, autonomous/mesh, security standards).
  • Experience with ACLs, QoS, SDWAN, policy based routing, zone based firewall.
  • Advanced troubleshooting techniques.
  • Moderate system administration experience with Windows Server (2016+).
  • Experience with Active Directory.
  • Experience with transactional SQL DBMS.
  • Experience with SAN/NAS.
  • Experience with MS Exchange Server (2010+).
  • Ability to discuss technical experience and knowledge at a deep technical level without aids.
  • Reside within 40 miles of the office in Rancho Cucamonga.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site systems administration and engineering support.
  • Manage and maintain enterprise computer networking infrastructure.
  • Handle secondary systems administration tasks.
  • Be on-call for network issues.
  • Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems.
  • Participate in ongoing infrastructure upgrades.
  • Contribute to the transition from Cisco routers to Check Point firewalls with SD-WAN.
