About The Position

The Systems Administrator – Windows and Networks is responsible for providing day-to-day support related to system design, architecture, acquisition, and implementation of multiple servers, LAN & WAN network components, workstations, software, system security, and virus protection solutions. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure high system availability and stability, manages software installations and deployments, and evaluates and recommends new products and systems. The position also involves direct end-user support for basic Windows, email, and printer issues, and requires working cooperatively with technical personnel across different business units and locations to achieve enterprise-wide goals. Additional responsibilities include monitoring and tuning server and network system performance, routine patch management, and data backup duties. The role ensures adherence to corporate IT standards and policies, acts as a liaison between Corporate IT and the local site, and may require travel to other AstenJohnson locations.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience supporting end users running Windows client computers, Windows Server backups, and Local Area & Wireless Networks in a midsized manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to effectively understand and communicate complex designs, development, and technical issues both verbally and in written form.
  • Windows security administration, and overall problem determination and resolution.
  • Extensive knowledge of IT security best practices.
  • Working knowledge of Windows operating systems.
  • Working knowledge of current equipment and technologies in use.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise backup and recovery procedures.
  • Working knowledge of system performance monitoring tools.
  • Must possess the aptitude to support technical aspects of both medium and large-scale projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Flexibility in working evenings and weekends is required.
  • Ability to plan, organize and document complex system design activities and to configure systems to be consistent with institutional policies/procedures.
  • Ability to communicate technical/complex information both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperation, understanding, trust and credibility.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergencies effectively.
  • Ability to work without the need for constant supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day support related to system design, architecture, acquisition, and implementation of multiple servers, LAN & WAN network components, workstations, software, system security and virus protection solutions.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure high system availability and stability.
  • Reviews and applies software updates, security patches and other fixes as required.
  • Manages timely software installations and deployments.
  • Evaluates and recommends products and systems in key technology areas proposed by peers or users.
  • Provides day-to-day direct end user support for basic Windows, email, printer issues and questions.
  • Works cooperatively with technical personnel in all business units, corporate headquarters, and manufacturing plants to accomplish enterprise-wide goals.
  • Identifies, recommends and implements process improvements in support of the Windows servers & workstations, software, and network systems.
  • Performs server and network system performance monitoring and tuning.
  • Performs routine patch management of server and network systems.
  • Performs data backup duties.
  • Analyzes and modifies server and network operating conditions as needed to ensure maximum performance.
  • Ensures adherence and compliance with AstenJohnson Corporate IT and AJ Nonwovens standards, policies, procedures, and software licensing within the defined scope of responsibility.
  • Takes direction from Corporate IT Infrastructure, participates in Corporate IT projects, and acts as the liaison between Corporate IT and the Hampton site.
  • Works effectively on independent projects as well as in cross-functional teams.
  • Performs additional duties as required for the position.
  • Travel to other AstenJohnson locations, training, or conferences may be required (<25%).
