About The Position

NorthHill Technology Resources is hiring a Systems Administrator/Software Packaging Engineer to support a federal program in Springfield, Virginia. This is a direct-hire role with a fast-growing federal integrator and requires an active TS/SCI clearance; the employer will sponsor a CI polygraph within the first year. The Systems Administrator works as part of an agile team to maintain and improve system functionality through customer interaction, knowledge of the GEOINT exploitation system, and understanding of the production mission. The role provides on-site, on-the-floor technical and systems administration support, including troubleshooting and resolving software and hardware anomalies. The successful candidate automates software deployments, packages software, troubleshoots VDI endpoints, virtual machines, and geospatial and corporate software, and makes corrective recommendations. The role also responds to application and hardware issues, resolves problems where possible, reproduces issues for analysis, and helps prepare technical documentation describing problems and solutions. Additional systems administration work includes maintaining system integrity and security, configuring administrator and service accounts, maintaining documentation, evaluating vendor products, recommending hardware and software purchases, coordinating installations, and providing backup and recovery. The administrator develops and monitors resource-use policies and standards, may program in an administrative language, develops testing strategies and documents results, and advises and trains end users. The role provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced staff, maintains knowledge of relevant technologies, and participates in special projects.
