Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on systems administration experience in an MSP or enterprise IT environment
  • Proficiency with Windows Server (2016/2019/2022), Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy
  • Solid experience with Microsoft 365 administration, including Exchange Online, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls
  • Experience with backup technologies and disaster recovery planning
  • Strong troubleshooting methodology — you diagnose systematically, document thoroughly, and communicate clearly
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple client environments without dropping the ball

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant certifications: CompTIA Network+, Security+, Microsoft (MD-102, AZ-104), or equivalent
  • Experience with Microsoft 365
  • Familiarity with RMM and PSA platforms (ConnectWise, Kaseya, Datto RMM, or similar)
  • Exposure to cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, CIS Controls) and compliance environments (HIPAA, PCI)

Responsibilities

  • Administer and monitor client servers, networking devices, and cloud environments to maintain uptime
  • Lead projects: system upgrades, migrations, new deployments, and infrastructure improvements
  • Diagnose and resolve escalated hardware, software, and network issues with minimal client downtime
  • Design, test, and validate backup and disaster recovery procedures for client environments
  • Manage Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and group policy across multiple client tenants
  • Enforce and improve security posture: patch management, endpoint protection, firewall rules, and access controls
  • Administer user accounts, permissions, and role-based access in compliance with client security policies
  • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions that deliver measurable improvements in performance or cost
  • Author and maintain clear technical documentation: network diagrams, SOPs, runbooks, and incident logs
  • Mentor Level 1 technicians and provide escalation support, raising the capability of the broader team
