About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Systems Administrator (Level 2/3) to join our IT Infrastructure team. This role is responsible for supporting, maintaining, and optimizing corporate and project systems, ensuring high availability and reliability. Our ideal candidate has deep expertise with RHEL and Ubuntu systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting mission-critical environments. This position requires willingness to participate in a shift schedule, work after-hours, and occasionally weekends as operational needs dictate.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience as a systems administrator in a Linux environment (preferably RHEL and Ubuntu).
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux server management, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Proficient with configuration management and automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Scripting skills with Python and Bash.
  • VMware administration and support experience.
  • Experience with enterprise backup systems, preferably Veeam.
  • Experience managing Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience managing revision control systems (such as Gitlab, Subversion, PlasticSCM).
  • Storage management experience, including SAN/NAS configuration and support.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Effective communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work shift schedules and provide after-hours/weekend support as needed.
  • US citizens are eligible for this role due to contract requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: Security+, CompTIA Linux+, VMware VCP, or equivalent.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) or hybrid/cloud integrations.
  • Familiarity with network administration, TCP/IP troubleshooting, and security best practices.
  • Experience with monitoring solutions (Observium, Lansweeper, etc.).
  • Experience in agile environments or DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and technical support for outages, service level issues, and user support requests; resolve escalated incidents.
  • Monitor and analyze system metrics; implement performance optimization and develop capacity planning strategies.
  • Author and maintain detailed documentation for system hardware, software, and processes.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and peripheral issues; research system documentation and knowledge bases to recommend solutions.
  • Track and document hardware and software changes within system infrastructure.
  • Develop criteria and participate in the selection and evaluation of vendor products, ensuring compatibility with corporate standards and guidelines.
  • Lead or serve as a technical SME on specialized projects, coordinating with other technical teams as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date technical expertise on all supported hardware and software technologies in the environment.
  • Administer and support Atlassian product suite (Jira, Confluence).
  • Administer and support revision control systems (Gitlab, Subversion, PlasticSCM).
  • Manage SAN/NAS devices for corporate and project storage needs.
  • Oversee backup operations using Veeam to ensure data protection and compliance objectives.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to provide 24/7 support coverage, including shift work, after-hours, and occasional weekend assignments.
  • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and best practices, including regular patching and vulnerability remediation.
  • Automate system administration processes using scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible, etc.).
  • Collaborate with DevOps, Networking, Security, and Development teams to deliver stable and scalable infrastructure.
