About The Position

The Systems Administrator I role involves maintaining critical IT infrastructure and services. Key responsibilities include managing user permissions, monitoring system health, applying patches to Windows and Linux servers, and documenting the IT environment. The position also requires coordinating incident response, managing datacenter access, and handling on-call duties. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of the university's IT systems.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in IT or equivalent training.
  • Experience within customer support.
  • Good verbal / written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow complex verbal / written instructions.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • To obtain LU-approved driver certification, individuals must be 21 years of age or older, possess a valid driver’s license with a minimum of five (5) years of documented driving history, and maintain a clean driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA Network+/Security+ / MCSA/RHCSA / LPI Linux Essentials.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Elasticsearch).
  • Completed a degree in IT or Computer Science-related field.
  • Proficient with one or more scripting / programming languages (Python, Go, Java, Powershell).
  • Familiar with containerization and CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain permission assignments to applications and services for all employees.
  • Coordinate incident response based on monitoring alerts & user-reported issues.
  • Manage monitoring tools.
  • Maintain patches for Windows and Linux servers.
  • Maintain documentation of infrastructure and services.
  • Datacenter access control and daily walk-throughs.
  • Manage engineer on-call lists and handle phone calls.
