About The Position

This position is responsible for developing short- and long-term mission and ethics goals and plans, ensuring alignment with broader organizational priorities. The role utilizes metrics and organizational vision to lead and direct mission and ethics activities. It serves as a member of the leadership team, providing strategic direction on mission and ethics related issues. The role requires working effectively as a team member in a dynamic executive environment within a matrix organization and promoting teamwork across the organization. The individual will demonstrate and impart the mission, philosophy, values, and vision of the organization in daily activities and operational functions. Responsibilities include providing project direction, leadership, and communication, managing workflow, and contributing to financial performance. The role involves developing and implementing programs to cultivate understanding of the organization's mission, vision, values, and core commitments, and integrating mission and vision across organizational and community health and benefit activities. Collaboration with system leaders to offer a mission/ethics perspective on major organizational issues, efforts, and initiatives is key. The position identifies clinical and organizational issues of importance to the organization's mission and values, developing responses, positions, policies, strategies, and educational initiatives. It ensures the existence of ethics committees and provides support in accordance with system best practices, serving as a resource for these committees. The role also involves ensuring appropriate staffing levels, guiding and developing staff, overseeing special projects, and leading the development of pastoral care services. Maintaining knowledge on developments in health care, theology, and ethics, and regularly informing staff on organizational and industry issues is required. The position maintains relationships with external constituents in health care ethics, formation, and theology, and contributes to the mission and ethics field through research, writing, and presentations. The role is based at the corporate campus, Mission Hill, in St. Louis, MO and is not remote work eligible, requiring relocation upon acceptance.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Moral Theology, Bioethics, or related field required
  • Ten years' experience
  • Five years' in leadership
  • Health Care Ethics Consultation Certification preferred
