About The Position

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a mid-career level System Safety Engineer to join the Fleet Ballistic Missile program in Titusville, FL. This role is crucial for developing and defining safety analysis and strategies, ensuring safety is integrated into hardware and software products, and that controls are effective and compliant with safety requirements. The engineer will review and assess changes for hazard impacts, and develop and maintain hazard analyses.

Requirements

Demonstrated knowledge and application of system safety design and operations safety principles to include experience with one or all of the following: hazard identification, analysis, risk mitigation, safety requirements management, and associated deliverable documentation.
Effective communication skills with the ability to engage and interact in group meeting/working environments with team members, development, organizations and customers.
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance.

Nice To Haves

Experience using MIL-STD-882E, or other relevant industry and/or safety standards.
Experience developing Safety Assessment Report (SAR), and/or other system safety assessment documentation.
Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
Experience in System Safety background.
Experience with weapons systems, U.S. Army or Navy customers, safety requirements, ordnance and software.

Responsibilities

Develop and update hazard analysis products, including System Hazard Analyses and Safety Assessment Reports on equipment and facilities.
Prepare presentations and participate in Design Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews, Technical Interchange Meetings, and various working groups and safety review meetings.
Support the development and updating of System Safety documents to support Customer and Range Safety contractual requirements.
Collaborate with customer safety counterparts and support weapon systems working groups.
