About The Position

Corvid's Prototyping, Integration and Testing team is looking to add an experienced System Safety Engineer to support our growing product portfolio – and that growth is in both number of products as well as complexity. The engineer will join a matrixed team working to finalize development, test, and ultimately produce launch systems for DoW customers. This position will require an understanding of MIL-STD-882E, specifically working to define and meet safety requirements for new DoW products. Working directly with the development and production team, the engineer will get to collaborate across the team, ideally bringing safety related experience in Systems Engineering, Human Factors Engineering, Risk Management, and Reliability Analysis to help Corvid produce a reliable, safe weapon system for our customers.

Requirements

  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline and at least 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Demonstrated familiarity with MIL-STD-882E and its application to system safety programs
  • Experience working with (or developing) safety tools and databases (e.g., hazard tracking systems, model-based systems engineering, requirement databases)
  • Strong communication skills, including demonstrated ability to work across engineering disciplines in a collaborative environment

  • Experience conducting hazard analyses (PHA, FHA, SHA, SSHA, O&SHA, EHA, HHA, FTA, FMEA)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own required artifacts related to Safety for DoW programs
  • Conduct and document safety assessments such as Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA), Subsystem Hazard Analysis (SHA), System Hazard Analysis (SHA), and Functional Hazard Assessment
  • Develop verification plans and support related test activity, including analyzing data and developing required artifacts
  • Collaborate with various engineering teams to embed safety features and fault tolerance into the design process
