Responsibilities

  • Perform hazard analyses (PHA, FHA, SHA, SSHA, O&SHA, FMEA, and FTA) in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, scaled to system maturity.
  • Analyze autonomy and software-controlled behaviors, ensuring software safety controls are captured, traced, and verified.
  • Define safety requirements and flow them into system and subsystem requirements.
  • Partner with internal teams to drive safety features through implementation.
  • Maintain hazard tracking and the system safety case, including traceability from hazards to mitigations and verification evidence.
  • Partner with test teams to establish safety test objectives and acceptance criteria, and participate in lab, vehicle, and field testing.
  • Evaluate verification evidence and support readiness reviews, safety releases, and risk acceptance decisions.
  • Prepare safety documentation for ATEC, government, and commercial reviewers, and communicate risk to leadership and external stakeholders.
  • Help develop safety processes that scale across programs and improve safety maturity across engineering.
