The Role We’re seeking a forward-thinking System Safety Engineer to develop and execute safety cases for suspension systems. This role focuses on mechatronic solutions – rather than purely mechanical designs. Systems supported: Four Corner Air Suspension Front Ride Height Control Active Suspension Adaptive Damping Control

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems) or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of proven experience in System Safety Engineering within the automotive or a related safety-critical industry.
  • Knowledge of safety analysis methods (FMEA, FTA, Hazard Analysis)
  • Strong Customer-Focused mindset with a commitment to delivering safe and reliable products.
  • Experience with Design/Development/Integration of complex systems.
  • Proficiency in Group Problem Solving techniques and methodologies.
  • Highly Results-Oriented with a track record of successfully achieving safety objectives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle on a regular basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in a technical field
  • Engineering experience working with mechatronic suspension systems.
  • Familiar with vehicle dynamics and how vehicle actuators and sensors work together.
  • Familiar with embedded controller system design and communication networks, automotive or otherwise.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain system safety cases aligned to program timing
  • Execute safety analyses (Hazard Analysis, FMEA, FTA) and align validation strategies
  • Support definition of safe system architectures and requirements
  • Review and guide supplier safety deliverables
  • Collaborate across engineering, validation, and suppliers to resolve safety issues
  • Lead safety reviews and support governance processes
  • Identify, escalate, and track safety risks and gaps
  • Guide teams on safety processes, tools, and best practices
  • Enable development of compliant safety deliverables
  • Capture and deploy safety best practices
  • Support supplier assessments and process improvements
