System Product Design Eng

AppleCupertino, CA
$184,700 - $277,600Onsite

About The Position

Collaborating with industrial designers, product integrity, hardware, software, and technology groups to refine & execute on the design of the product. Developing initial product layouts. Generate concepts, simulate behavior, prototype, demonstrate & test to drive down-selection. Partnering with external vendors & internal manufacturing teams to optimize designs for function, cosmetics and manufacturability. Ensuring design meets requirements throughout its lifecycle by performing stress, tolerance, and failure analyses and supporting factory builds. 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $184,700- $277,600/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or foreign equivalent in Mechatronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Performing Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using simulation tools, including Abaqus or ANSYS, to evaluate structural integrity, mechanical feasibility, and design optimization and exploration of consumer electronics hardware architectures.
  • Building physics-based analytical models and simulation frameworks to rapidly assess the technical feasibility of novel product concepts and inform early product architecture definitions.
  • Using 3D CAD software, including NX, or nTopology, to model complex consumer electronics product architectures from early concept through detailed mechanical design.
  • Designing full consumer electronics product architectures, including integrating cross-functional engineering disciplines such as mechanical systems, electrical, RF, thermal management, display, and input device subsystems.
  • Designing and executing Design of Experiments (DOE) to characterize product and component performance, including defining test variables, analyzing results, and drawing data-driven design conclusions.
  • Selecting engineering materials and specifying manufacturing processes, including CNC machining, sheet metal forming, injection molding, and additive manufacturing/rapid prototyping, to achieve product design requirements.
  • Designing and building physical prototypes of consumer electronics products, including fabricating and assembling functional mockups to validate form, fit, and function during early-stage concept development.
  • Organizing and visualizing multi-disciplinary engineering analysis data using data visualization tools to present design trade-offs and collaborate with Industrial Design teams on product architecture decision-making.
