About The Position

Symbotic is seeking a talented Automation System Operator responsible for monitoring the operation of their automated material handling system. This role involves coordinating on-site troubleshooting efforts and escalating complex issues to internal subject matter experts. The System Operator is part of the site operations team within the Customer Operations organization, which manages the day-to-day operations of Symbotic’s robotic material handling system. This team drives operational excellence by partnering with on-site customers to ensure best-in-class quality, safety, and system performance.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years in a computer or automation environment desired.
  • Ability to direct and guide employees' daily standard work.
  • Effective detail-oriented communicator.
  • A desire to learn new equipment and assist team members as needed.
  • Takes critical feedback and recognition positively.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform multiple job functions at once.
  • A high sense of urgency.
  • Must be literate, written and verbal, in English Language.
  • Must comply with all safety requirements and protocols, including without limitation Lock out tag out safety protocols and fall protection safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safety commitments in compliance with OSHA, Symbotic, and customer processes and procedures are met daily.
  • Monitor system performance and availability of personnel and automated robotic vehicles.
  • Work with the customer to schedule and produce orders and receive inventory.
  • Troubleshoot system stoppages and determine the best course of action to maintain system up-time.
  • Effectively communicate and troubleshoot software issues with off-site Symbotic software engineers and the on-site management team.
  • Operate the system via a custom GUI.
  • Ensure safe and proper operation of the system.
  • Plan daily activities and coordinate system maintenance with maintenance personnel and the Automation Manager based on daily warehouse operations needs.
  • Maintain accurate logs of major events.
  • Become the on-site software expert with an excellent understanding of system interrelations and consequences.
  • Assess the cause of automated robotic vehicle failure, examine log files, take detailed notes, and alert service personnel.
  • Assist and train other automation team operators in troubleshooting and repairs of any equipment, consistent with level of experience and training.
  • Communicate with tier support to drive system production.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership.
