System Operator I with the Marina Coast Water District
About The Position
The Systems Operator performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in support of all district water treatment, distribution, and wastewater collection system installation, inspection, preventive and corrective maintenance and repair activities; assists in performing underground televised wastewater collection main inspection and hydrocleaning of wastewater collection lines; assists in inspecting and performing preventive maintenance, servicing and mechanical repair of potable water booster pump stations, wastewater lift stations and mobile equipment; performs related work as required.
Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from high school and a course of specialized training covering the fundamentals of water supply principles.
- OR Equivalent to graduation from high school and one years’ experience in plumbing, maintenance, manufacturing, underground utilities, mechanical repair, or a related field.
- Must possess and maintain a valid California class C driver’s license and have a satisfactory driving record.
- Must obtain within the probationary period a valid California class B driver’s license (and continue to maintain).
- Must be willing and normally available for responding to off-hours emergency situations at all times.
- Must be able to meet the 30-minute response time when placed on standby for off-hour calls within six months of hire date.

- California Department of Public Health Water Distribution Operator Grade I (must obtain within 36 months of appointment date).
- California Department of Public Health Water Treatment Operator Grade I (must obtain within 36 months of appointment date).
- California Water Environment Association Collection System Maintenance Grade I (must obtain within 36 months of appointment date).

Benefits
- Salary for System Operator I : $85,611.22 - $109,264.04 (EA Range 15)
