About The Position

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization, Intelligence Systems portfolio, is seeking a System Engineer (Experienced or Senior) to join our Mission Operations team in Herndon, VA. Our team focuses on delivering complex solutions in some of the most challenging environments on Earth. We provide support for our Mission Operations Portfolio area which design, build, test, deploy, operate, and maintain a wide variety of mission critical platforms and systems for commercial and government customers. This Systems Engineer position performs requirements analysis and tracking, test analysis and tracking, and is the lead documentation expert on the team. This position is critical to the success of a new greenfield development effort, so the team ensures we meet all of the requirements with traceability and test verification. The position will help ensure that we exceed our requirements around security, reliability, and performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance and current FSP (Full Scope Polygraph) (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • 3+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (for Level 3)
  • 3+ years of experience in Systems Engineering
  • Experience with requirements management and testing
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence or similar tooling

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (for Level 4)
  • Experience supporting software engineering projects
  • Experience and/or knowledge of cloud systems

Responsibilities

  • Translate requirements into validated system designs, interfaces, and acceptance criteria
  • Implement and enforce configuration management (via git) and infrastructure-as-code for reproducible environments
  • Ensure reliability and observability requirements are met with verification and validation
  • Lead integration and validation (end-to-end testing) to verify requirements before release
  • Document security best practices: access control, secret management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance
  • Assist with root-cause analysis, and document corrective actions and system documentation
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Participating in the planning and implementation of new systems, upgrades, and migrations, ensuring compatibility and adherence to best practices
  • Staying up to date with the latest technologies, industry trends, and security practices, and continuously improving skills and knowledge
