About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) seeks a System Administrator to serve on the Global Positioning System (GPS) IIF program, within our Space, Intelligence & Weapon Systems (SI&WS) division located in El Segundo, CA. GPS is a satellite-based radio-navigation system owned by the United States government and operated by the United States Space Force and is the world's first global utility. GPS provides position, navigation, and timing (PNT) data to military and civilian users globally with countless applications and an unlimited number of users. Boeing has over 45 years of history in GPS, including achieving full system capability in 1995. The current Boeing team supports the US Space Force by sustaining and monitoring the health and capabilities of the 12 GPS Block IIF satellites in the GPS constellation, launched from 2010 to 2016. The Boeing GPS sustainment team also provides support to our U.S. Space Force customer with reports and expertise on all aspects of the GPS system. Sustainment efforts will continue through the life of the Block IIF satellites, with a design life expectancy to 2031 and beyond. The program currently operates under a 10-year sustainment contract, from 2022 to 2031.

Requirements

  • Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
  • Minimum years of related experience: 3+ for level 3, 5+ years for level 4.
  • Current Security+ (Sec+) certification or other current IAT level II DoD 8140 (previously 8570) Approved Baseline Certification.
  • Cybersecurity technical experience.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 10% domestically.
  • If not within commuting distance of El Segundo, CA, willingness and ability to relocate at own expense.
  • This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Responsibilities

  • Support critical GPS IIF satellite systems as an individual contributor on a high-performing team.
  • Perform system integration, configuration management, security, and maintenance activities across hardware, software, and domain components supporting the GPS architecture.
  • Provide technical support for classified systems, perform system validation and configuration management tasks, and monitor system performance to support mission reliability.
  • Perform data integrity functions and system administration in a medium-sized Windows Enterprise Domain architecture, including basic Active Directory/LDAP management.
  • Manage monthly patching and system updates across Solaris, RHEL, and Windows systems.
  • Perform security hardening in accordance with DISA STIG, Boeing best practices, and port security guidelines.
  • Conduct vulnerability and compliance management using Nessus and SCC tools, tracking and remediating open Cyber/IA items and POA&M discrepancies, maintaining compliance documentation (CAIRO, ACP, NIST 800-53, NIST 800-171, STIG), and preparing manual STIG checklists for inspections.
  • Install, configure, monitor, and maintain multiplatform systems hardware, software, virtual machines and cybersecurity tools (Nessus, Splunk, Trellix).
  • Contribute automation, data analytics, and creative solutions that improve operations while meeting cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support network device configuration and documentation, including diagram updates, port and device mapping, and security baselines maintenance.
  • Perform hardware and software reliability integration and system configuration monitoring to support system performance and mission operations.
  • Manage service and software deployments and upgrades, including vulnerability identification, resolution, testing, and integration.
