About The Position

This role involves driving radio security studies to develop robust security features for customers. The System Engineer will lead technical investigations on security topics, propose mitigations, and drive decisions with impacted design teams. This position will systemize security functionality for radio software, in alignment with the System Area charters for Radio and Security through participation in system studies to cover security aspects. The engineer will analyze and break down security requirements into implementable system requirements and design constraints for radio units and RAN components. This role supports Architects, OPOs, drivers, and development teams with expert guidance in secure implementation and drives continuous improvement in product security in-line with latest developments in the security area. The engineer will also participate in relevant forums and communities (System Area groups, Security Chapters, seminars) and share learnings, best practices, and guidance across the Radio organization.

Requirements

  • Solid background in radio/RAN systems, embedded systems, or telecom HW/SW, with experience from at least one of: radio HW, radio SW, RAN compute.
  • Strong understanding of security fundamentals, including Cryptographic primitives (hashing, symmetric / asymmetric crypto, digital signatures) and secure boot and trusted execution concepts.
  • Experience in system engineering / systemization: Requirements analysis and decomposition, Defining system behaviors, interfaces, and constraints, Writing clear, structured technical documentation.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions and drive decisions across multi‑disciplinary teams (HW, SW, ASIC, manufacturing, security governance).
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a structured way of working and good attention to detail.
  • Understanding of agile way of working, CI/CD setup for product development.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both spoken and written.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 5G RAN and Ericsson Radio System products (radios, AAS, RAN compute, transport, or Cloud RAN).
  • Hands‑on experience with Secure boot / secure storage / secure debug implementations
  • Familiarity with BNEW security frameworks, Baseline Security Requirements (BSR), and Radio Security Requirements in DOORS NG.
  • Experience collaborating with Security Masters, Security Champions, or Product Security organizations.
