System Engineer, Level 6
About The Position
At Independent Software, as a System Engineer Level 6, you will provide senior-level systems engineering support for the design, integration, deployment, and sustainment of complex IT and SIGINT systems. You will support the deployment of new capabilities and upgrades to field sites while ensuring system architectures, network configurations, hardware, software, and documentation meet mission requirements. In this role, you will work across Linux and Windows environments, networking, virtualization, communications technologies, and system infrastructure. You will also develop engineering documentation and drawings supporting system design, implementation, deployment, and transition activities.
Requirements
- Extensive Systems Engineering experience supporting complex IT or mission systems
- Strong knowledge of systems architecture, networking, virtualization, and communications technologies
- Experience with Linux and Windows system administration
- Experience with Cisco routers, switches, and network security protocols
- Experience with system/network integration, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting
- Experience developing and interpreting system and network engineering drawings
- Understanding of cloud computing concepts and best practices
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills
- Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph
Responsibilities
- Design, integrate, deploy, and sustain complex IT and SIGINT systems
- Develop engineering documentation, including Preliminary Design Reviews (PDRs), Mission Transition Plans, and system/network diagrams
- Administer and support Linux and Windows environments
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco routers, switches, and network infrastructure
- Integrate servers, hardware, software, and data-processing systems
- Perform rack-and-stack installation, cabling, testing, and troubleshooting
- Support virtualization and cloud-based technologies
- Maintain technical documentation using Visio, JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office
- Collaborate with engineering teams and mission stakeholders throughout deployment and sustainment
