System Development Engineer I, Ops Tech Solutions
About The Position
Operations Technology Solutions (OTS) at Amazon is responsible for creating, securing, and maintaining advanced technical infrastructure and devices across various Amazon sectors including Fulfillment Centers, Transportation, Logistics, Specialty Fulfillment, Air, and Pharmacy. OTS supports approximately 2,500 global sites with state-of-the-art network solutions and end-user equipment, relying on a network of over 4,000 field technicians and engineers to manage daily operations and growth. This role involves designing and delivering technology solutions to solve business problems, identifying and resolving ambiguous issues, and ensuring systems are scalable and evolve over time. Solutions should be pragmatic, efficient, cost-effective, and thoroughly tested, with clear documentation.
Requirements
- Experience in automating, deploying, and supporting infrastructure
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
- Experience with Linux/Unix

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver technology solutions that solve difficult business problems.
- Identify and solve ambiguous problems, architectural deficiencies, or areas where team systems hinder the success or innovation of other teams.
- Work autonomously, but may seek direction at times from peers and manager.
- Consider the legacy of systems built and how they will scale and evolve over time.
- Develop pragmatic, efficient, and cost-effective solutions, making appropriate trade-offs and reusing or extending prior work where possible.
- Thoroughly test work.
- Write clear, accurate, and concise documentation for own solutions and improve team's existing documentation.
- Work closely with Product Management to break down feature requirements into software deliverables.
- Design, Develop and maintain secure and performant software features and systems for Operations and Operations IT customers.
- Actively participate in software and system design reviews.
- Participate in the team on-call rotation to triage, communicate status, escalate, and remediate critical issues quickly.
