About The Position

This role is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and supporting the computing environment. The primary focus is on system administration tasks, including user and group management, security permissions, group policies, print services, and monitoring system health. The position involves planning and executing system upgrades, identifying automation opportunities, and managing virtualised infrastructure environments. A key aspect of the role is developing and implementing backup and recovery strategies, monitoring system/network health, and maintaining domain names, certificates, and licensing. The administrator will also be responsible for documenting system configurations, adhering to change management policies, and developing automation scripts using Python, Powershell, or other scripting tools. Evaluating system resource utilization, capacity planning, and implementing security measures are also crucial. The role involves introducing new automation technologies, ensuring project delivery, and providing Level-2/3 support. Collaboration with internal and external partners for problem resolution and project communication is expected, along with researching and recommending new technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or related IT operations roles.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles, practices, hardware, and software related to the establishment, maintenance, and documentation of infrastructure architecture and security.
  • Extensive experience administering Microsoft Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file services, web services, and print services.
  • Experience managing and supporting virtualised infrastructure environments, including VMware vSphere/ESXi and Nutanix AHV.
  • Experience supporting cloud-based infrastructure and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms in hybrid enterprise environments.
  • Python, PowerShell, and other scripting languages for automation, systems administration, monitoring, reporting, and operational efficiencies
  • Experience implementing and supporting backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.
  • Strong understanding of server, storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.
  • Experience monitoring system performance, resource utilization, capacity planning, and infrastructure optimization.
  • Experience managing SSL/TLS certificates, domain registrations, software licensing, and related infrastructure services.
  • Demonstrated experience with change management, configuration management, and technical documentation practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure, application, and network issues in enterprise environments.
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities for automation and successfully implement solutions that improve operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, as well as resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture works seamlessly.
  • Plan and implement system upgrades, including hardware or software updates, and ensuring that all systems are properly patched and up to date.
  • Identify opportunities to increase efficiency with automation.
  • Manage, administer, troubleshoot, provision, configure, optimize, and perform lifecycle management of virtualised infrastructure environments, including VMware vSphere/ESXi, Nutanix AHV, cloud platforms, and SaaS solutions, encompassing virtual machines, clusters, storage resources, and hybrid-cloud services.
  • Develop, implement, and perform backup and recovery strategies to ensure data availability and integrity in case of system failures or disasters.
  • Monitor system/network health utilizing pre-existing management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise, to include threats.
  • Maintain domain names, certificates, and licensing for applicable support.
  • Produce and maintain documentation of system configurations and work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval and success of changes made to the environment.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational tools using Python, Powershell, or other scripting tools to improve system efficiency, monitoring, and administrative processes.
  • Evaluate system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning to make recommendations for scope and scale.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's systems and data.
  • Develop plans to introduce new automation technologies to increase efficiency and productivity levels within the company.
  • Ensure that automation projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  • Write and maintain documentation for system administration procedures.
  • Interact with the HelpDesk and other teams to assist in Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting, identifying root cause, and resolving issues when needed.
  • Partner with internal and external partners for problem resolution, to communicate project status, activities, and achievements.
  • Research and recommend new approaches and technologies to improve the overall technology stance of the company.
