About The Position

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a System Administrator to support a major national laboratory. This role involves daily monitoring, maintenance, and repair of physical and virtual server-based systems, either autonomously or as part of a team. The administrator will handle incident escalations, requiring judgment and initiative to resolve technical issues affecting hardware, operating systems, or applications. Collaboration with vendors and external partners for issue resolution is also a key part of the role. Maintaining systems includes applying patches, installing/replacing hardware, and implementing configuration changes to improve performance. Scripting for daily tasks, quality assurance checks, system capacity analysis, and user assistance are also responsibilities. The position requires 100% onsite presence due to classified system support and necessitates an active DOE Q Top Secret Clearance or DoD Top Secret with reciprocity. The candidate must be a US Citizen.

Requirements

  • BS/BA in relevant discipline years or directly related experience that demonstrates the
  • 100% Onsite due to classified system support
  • Must have an active DOE Q Top Secret Clearance minimum on Start or DoD Top Secret with reciprocity
  • Must be US Citizen
  • Windows and Linux desktop & server system administration experience for at least 2 years
  • Experience with Data Storage Systems and associated technologies: SAN, NAS, RAID, LUNs, Snapshots, Replication, etc.
  • Familiarity with Firewall technology & management of private LANs/networks.
  • Familiarity with network protocols and network management technologies.
  • Skill utilizing software diagnostic tools and the ability to conduct appropriate troubleshooting processes and conduct appropriate upgrades.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with other IT professionals
  • Ability to work well in a collaborative team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Server room management (e.g. - power, cooling, cabling, racking)
  • Experience with quality assurance testing
  • Experience in Virtual/Cloud Deployments
  • Experience developing scripts for automating service tasks

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily monitoring, maintenance, and repair of physical and virtual Server based systems.
  • Support incident escalations requiring considerable judgement and initiative to resolve technical issues affecting hardware, operating systems, or applications.
  • Work with vendors or external partners to diagnose and resolve issues.
  • Maintain systems by applying operating system or application patches, install new or replace hardware, create/apply configuration changes to improve or restore system performance.
  • Create scripts to aid with daily monitoring, maintenance, and repair of supported systems.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance checks.
  • Perform system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Assist users in accessing and using business systems.
