About The Position

SAIC is seeking a System Administrator focused on Service Verification and Acceptance Testing (SVAT) in Colorado Springs to support a mission-critical DoD environment. The role operates and maintains the Test & Integration Lab (TIL), executes and documents SVAT activities, and validates new or changed IT services before production deployment. The System Administrator works with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations teams to test infrastructure, networks, and applications and provide objective evidence that solutions meet functional, performance, and security requirements. The position administers a lab that mirrors the production baseline; builds, configures, and patches Windows Server and workstation images, and Linux systems where applicable; and maintains build guides, configuration baselines, network diagrams, and inventory/CMDB records. It implements SVAT plans, executes functional, regression, integration, performance, and smoke test cases, documents results and defects, and participates in test readiness and post-test reviews. The role supports CAB and CCB activities, assesses production readiness, identifies affected configuration items, verifies lab changes against approved materials and records, and validates rollback procedures. It coordinates security-focused testing with cybersecurity personnel, considers STIG baselines, vulnerability findings, and RMF control evidence, and provides test artifacts for RMF/ATO packages and POA&M closure where applicable. The System Administrator also produces test reports and recommendations, updates procedures and configuration documentation, and maintains traceability among requirements, test cases, results, and defects.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance; TS/SCI eligibility preferred.
  • 3+ years of hands-on System Administration experience in a Windows Server/Windows client environment.
  • Experience configuring, patching, and troubleshooting servers and workstations in a DoD or similar enterprise environment.
  • Experience executing or supporting system or integration testing, such as functional, regression, or performance testing, for infrastructure, network, or application changes.
  • Familiarity with change and configuration management concepts, including CAB, CCB, CMDB, and configuration items, in an ITIL-aligned environment.
  • Ability to create and maintain basic test documentation, including test steps, expected and actual results, and defect logs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting results and briefing technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA Security+ CE or a higher DoD 8570/8140 IAT certification.
  • Experience with SVAT/TIL operations in a DoD, COCOM, or similar mission environment.
  • Exposure to RMF/ATO processes and use of test artifacts as security control evidence.
  • Experience with DISA STIGs, ACAS, IAVM/CTO/CTASK implementation, or similar vulnerability and hardening activities.
  • Linux experience.
  • Familiarity with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere/ESXi or Hyper-V.
  • Familiarity with configuration or patch management tools such as SCCM/ConfigMgr, WSUS, or Ansible.
  • Familiarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Ivanti for change and incidents.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation or other ITIL/ITSM training.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain the SVAT/Test & Integration Lab environment so that it mirrors the production baseline.
  • Build, configure, and patch Windows Server and workstation images, and Linux systems where applicable.
  • Maintain lab documentation, including system build guides, configuration baselines, network diagrams, and inventory/CMDB updates.
  • Implement SVAT plans and procedures provided by engineering and project teams, and provide input to improve test coverage and feasibility.
  • Execute functional, regression, integration, performance, and smoke test cases for infrastructure, network, and application changes.
  • Validate test results; capture logs and screenshots; and document defects, deviations, and risks.
  • Participate in test readiness reviews and post-test reviews with engineering, cybersecurity, and operations stakeholders.
  • Provide SVAT results and production-readiness recommendations for CAB and CCB activities.
  • Identify configuration items affected by changes and help ensure CMDB accuracy.
  • Verify that lab changes align with approved Bills of Materials, design documents, and change records.
  • Support rollback testing and validation of back-out procedures for release readiness.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity personnel to ensure SVAT considers STIG baselines, vulnerability findings, and RMF control implementation evidence.
  • Validate that security patches, configuration changes, and new capabilities do not degrade security or operational performance.
  • Provide test reports, screenshots, and logs as evidence for RMF/ATO packages and POA&M closure where applicable.
  • Produce test execution reports, evaluation summaries, defect and issue reports, retest results, and acceptance recommendations.
  • Update lab SOPs, test procedures, and configuration documentation as environments evolve.
  • Maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, test results, and defects.
