About The Position

We are seeking a passionate System Administrator to join our Engineering Division at Johnson Space Center (JSC) on the Amentum JETS2 contract, supporting the Aeroscience and Flight Mechanics Division. This role involves supporting various labs that analyze crewed space flight and commercial partner projects. You will manage and design both wired and wireless networking specific to each lab, and maintain security updates on all lab systems. You will collaborate with other System Administrators, utilizing and developing best practices. Daily tasks include investigating system problems, monitoring system health, and completing security upgrades, with other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification in a related area or experience in the field
  • 1 year in any IT-related field
  • Experience with Linux OS (RedHat-based preferred, but other Linux OS experience is acceptable)
  • Experience with Windows OS (Windows 10 and later)
  • Demonstrated problem-solving experience
  • Demonstrated task planning skills
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience assisting others with IT-related issues
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with RedHat-based systems
  • Familiarity with IT Service Desk Support
  • Familiarity with Configuration management software (ansible, puppet, BigFix, SCRM)
  • Familiarity with Monitoring and alerting
  • Familiarity with Log consolidation and monitoring
  • Familiarity with Git/Gitlab Usage
  • Familiarity with Johnson Space Center campus network
  • Familiarity with NASA security mechanisms (security plans, POAMs, ATOs, Risk Assessments)

Responsibilities

  • Support Aeroscience and Flight Mechanics Division labs
