About The Position

We are seeking a passionate System Administrator to join our Engineering Division at Johnson Space Center (JSC) on the Amentum JETS2 contract, supporting the Aeroscience and Flight Mechanics Division. This role involves supporting multiple labs that analyze crewed space flight and commercial partner projects. You will manage and design both wired and wireless networking specific to each lab, and maintain security updates on all lab systems. You will collaborate with other System Administrators, utilizing and developing best practices. Daily tasks include investigating system problems, monitoring system health, and completing security upgrades. Other duties may be requested.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related area, or equivalent experience
  • 1 year in any IT-related field
  • Experience with Linux OS (RedHat-based preferred, but other Linux OS experience is acceptable)
  • Experience with Windows OS (Windows 10 and later)
  • Demonstrated problem-solving experience
  • Demonstrated task planning skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience assisting others with IT-related issues
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement
  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation

Responsibilities

  • Support Aeroscience and Flight Mechanics Division labs
  • Support both Windows and Linux based systems
  • Manage and design networking, both wired and wireless, specific to each lab
  • Maintain security updates on all lab systems
  • Work alongside other System Administrators
  • Utilize established best practices and develop new ones
  • Investigate system problems
  • Proactively monitor system health
